Matt's Grandpa Allred built a cabin for his family with his bare hands about 50 years ago. This cabin is nestled high in the Uinta Mountain range above Oakley, Utah. Growing up, Matt got to spend his summers here, playing in the stream, hiking the hills and helping Grandma with projects around the cabin. There are many memories that were made here. We're so lucky to still be able to enjoy this place and create the same memories with our own children. Matt's Grandma and Aunt are the care takers of the cabin and have done a wonderful job preserving this beautiful place. We were able to spend a couple of days with Grandma Allred and we were spoiled. Grandma Allred loves to entertain, so meals were prepared and activities were planned.
The kids spent hours on these swings asking for 'underdogs' over and over again.
We were able to do some exploring as well. We loaded Grandma and the kids up on the ol' Ranger and headed out. We saw tons of animals and enjoyed the crisp, fresh mountain air. Grandma greatly approved of the Ranger mentioning she hoped Santa would bring her on for Christmas next year :)
(Max actually stayed back at the cabin with Emily and family as they played games, that's why he's not in these pictures.)
Here's a picture of the boys and uncle Mike getting ready for the traditional flag ceremony. Grandpa was very patriotic and passed this tradition down to us...
Matt got friendly with the humming birds as he does his own version of National Geographic.
The Oakley Rodeo has been a tradition for years and years. Here's cowboy #1 waiting for the show to start...
We met up with Scooter and fam. Here's Scooter doing what he does best... ;)
Maxwell's favorite part was the steer wrestling. He hopes to be able to compete one day.
