Disneyland 2009!

We surprised our kids and took them on a vacation to California. Just imagine being 5 and 3 years old and being woke up at 7am to "Wake up kids, we're going to Disneyland!" The boys were pretty excited about it. We left on Wednesday morning and checked in to our hotel. We ended up meeting up with Grandma Judy and Aunt Amanda. We then headed for Newport Beach. There the kids enjoyed frozen dipped bananas and being crashed by the ocean waves. The weather was AMAZING! The nippy water did not even phase the boys as they were up to their necks in it. After we dragged the kids away from the water we all rented bikes for an hour and rode the beach path along Newport. Mase and Max both were zonked during the ride. That night we headed for downtown Disney for a nice stroll and shopping.







Thursday was the day we were waiting for. We woke up bright and early and headed for the magic kingdom. After a yummy buffet breakfast we were set and headed for the rides. The first one we hit was Pirates of the Caribbean - Mase's favorite from our last visit to DL. It was a hit, and the boys were singing "yo ho yo ho a pirates life for me as we exited the ride. We continued on and rode all the rides. Max's and Mason's favorite ride is Matterhorn Mountain. We went on it twice. Buzz Lightyear is always a hit, and the new Toy Story ride is awesome. Nice thing about having boys is that we didn't have to worry about seeing all the princesses and getting autographs. The only character they wanted to see was Mickey. The crouds weren't huge and the weather was perfect. Maxwell took an hour nap but Mase was going the whole time. The park closes at 11pm (12am UT time) and Mase never stopped. In fact the park was closing and Mase was wanting to go on Haunted Mansion one more time.







Friday we slept in and after breakfast we said goodbye to Grandma Judy and Amanda and headed to San Bernadino (about 1 hour away) to Grandma Hummer's house or oasis... (Barbara - Matt's mom) Grandma Hummer was so excited to see her to Grandsons that she doesn't get to see every day. She was so cute. She had a scavenger hunt planned for the boys with all of Grandpa Hummers treasures. We picked fresh oranges and made fresh orange juice, played pool, cooked hotdogs and marshmellows at the fire pit. But most importantly layed around the pool for hours... Her house is amazing! We stayed in our own little casita and enjoyed the company of Carlos (the big guard dog) and Bitsy (Grandma's lap dog). The boys could not get enough of the doggy's. Barbara made great food and was very accommodating - Thanks Grandma for the fun time.


Saturday morning we woke up and headed to Wild America and enjoyed all the African animals in an open scene, rather than small pens. The animals are allowed to roam free and we toured right through their surroundings. We then headed to San Diego Zoo for the remainder of the day. We loved seeing all the animals and learning about them.

We were so sad to see our vacation come to an end. We had SO much fun and look forward to more visits to California...
